e-commerce getting more popular

stand: ripplenet web design london We had a very busy two days at Earles Court: the surprising thing for us was that so many people were enquiring about e-commerce sites; I guess its because it is a cheaper way to get into business – less overheads and initial outlay. You don’t need a physical shop, but on the other hand to get noticed then you need to be willing to pay out for some more serious SEO.

What’s that all about?

You know, at the Business Startup Show, I had to pay £140 for a 240V Socket Outlet – rated at only 4 amps! – that’s on top of the fee to exhibit.

What’s that all about? Someone tell me why it has to be that much. And for just 4 amps, not even a  normal 13 A socket that a house is fitted with.

How to connect everything together

Oh my goodness.

Online:

what have I let myself in for? I can’t keep this blog going, never mind another blog I’ve been persuaded to set up, my twitter, facebook, linkedin etc. I think I need to integrate all these somehow, but at the same time keep my personal life separate from my business life – or do I?

Offline:

After going to a meeting yesterday I found myself on a new committee, and involved in a weekly phone conference. On top of that I’m trying to keep my head above getting a new site I’m working on going properly – Last night’s meeting was almost a disaster! We’d asked everyone to register and log in, but didn’t realise that the site was somehow blacklisted in one of the online registries that keeps track of spammers! So, many emails coming from the site were blocked .. Aaaaaaghnmmmph. Just when we wanted things to go simply so as not to put people off. Looks like it’s sorted, but for good measure we (well, Magnus) put an email logger in to keep track of things ourselves.

On top of that I’m working to finish four other sites for clients, and also getting ready for the Business Startup Show – (plug: get free tickets here) … and today just had another enquiry.

This evening is our first Chaplaincy meeting (I meet some uni. students in central London once very two weeks or so) – I know, late, but better than none at all I guess. Hope it goes well.
